Observing

When not hosting one of our public star parties at Vasquez Rocks, the local library, or one of the schools in the area, Local Group members gather in large and small groups and hold informal observing sessions on weekends nearest the new moon each month. During the warmer months, many of us join with amateur astronomers from across southern California in the parking lot atop Mount Pinos.

Regardless of the venue, there are rules and etiquette that apply at star parties. Club members Jim Mahon and Tom Falconer have prepared guides for star parties at Mount Pinos , and the more relaxed parties at Vasquez Rocks .
