Hello and welcome to The Local Group Astronomy Club of Santa Clarita, California. The purpose of our club is: “To provide a means for people interested in Astronomy to mutually participate in the study and observation of the universe; to encourage the general public to participate; and to dispense information to better educate everyone to the wonders of the universe; and to influence the communities to adopt methods designed to minimize light pollution.”
To that end, we encourage you to check out our calendar for the next event of interest and come down and visit us. We would love to meet you and show you all that the club has to offer. |

Lockwood Valley Star Party |
|
Looks like we've stumbled into an impromptu star party on Saturday, September 11th. This will take place at a clearing just up the road from the Chuchupate Ranger Station in Lockwood Valley. A map to the exact location can be found at: <http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=101292513723300561097.000475ff52fb10b976a19&ll=34.808166,-119.008369&spn=0.177309,0.31414&t=h&z=12> Please arrive before sunset as we will be observing Dark Sky protocols. See the Observing page for details. We need to keep the road clear so if you are not bringing a scope please park along side the road further down. Remember to bring water, snacks, chairs, and plenty of warm clothes. |
