Join us for our first quarterly free public star party in over a year! We all miss getting together out at Vasquez Rocks. We will have lots of telescopes set up viewing planets, nebulae, star clusters and distant galaxies.

NOTICE: Don't arrive late, we need to be out by 10:00pm due to new park requirements.

SOLAR SCOPES! Beginning at 5:00 we will have some solar telescopes set up. These are special telescopes with advanced filters that allow us to safely view the surface of the Sun.

Sundown is at 8:00pm and stars will start to come out around 9:00 (nautical twilight).

TELESCOPE WORKSHOP: We will have our regular telescope workshop beginning at 5:00. Bring out that old telescope you have in the closet or that new one you just purchased and we'll help you get it up and running. Please make sure you bring all the parts and necessary batteries.

COVID NOTICE: This is an outdoor activity but may be crowded so we recommend social distancing between family groups. While LA County does not currently require masks at outdoor events, please be considerate of personal choices regarding masks.

Enter the park via the main gate, turn left at the ranger station and continue to the end of the road past the large rocks.

Notes:

This is a County Park so please be mindful of the rules. aka, no alcohol. No smoking of any kind except in your vehicle. The park normally closes at sundown but during our Star Parties, we make special arrangements to have the gates open until the event concludes. Also, please stay at the event after dark. The rest of the park is not open to the public after dark and you will be asked to leave if you stray from the event area.
