Details:
Another impromptu Star Party! This is FREE and the public is encouraged to attend. This is during the 3rd quarter Moon so it will be great for dark sly observing until about Midnight when the moon rises. (We're all tired by then anyway...)
This is best enjoyed by bringing a picnic dinner and arriving early. Enjoy the evening as the Sun goes down and the stars come out, then head over to the scopes for stellar viewing. If you are interested in telescopes, this is a great time (before the stars come out) to talk with the astronomers about their gear as they get set up.
Sundown is a round 8pm and the stars will be out by 9pm.
We will be setting up in the upper lot (South end) so for those without scopes, please park in the lower (North) lot with your headlights facing away from the scopes so you don't blind everyone when you leave.
Note: Star Party etiquette suggests only red flashlights if at all and avoid flashing shoes or glowing bracelets. Help keep our eyes adapted to the dark.
For those with telescopes that have been sitting in your closet or those who want a little help with their scopes, please get there by around 7pm and a club member can assist you in setting up. Make sure you bring all necessary parts/batteries.
See you all there!
