7:00 PM Presentations
We’ll enjoy two interesting presentations at this month’s club meeting!
“Planck’s Law and Star Power” by Jim Moldenhauer
In his presentation, Jim will discuss:
1. How the radiation spectral intensity distribution at a star’s surface can be determined by Planck’s law given the star’s surface temperature.
2. How the spectral intensity distribution can then be used to determine the star’s total radiation output as well as its output in the visible range.
3. How the power output can be converted from power units to number of photons being generated per second.
4. How the radiation intensity at the star’s surface can be converted into down-stream intensity levels at the viewer’s position.
“The Night Sky of Fall” – Dave Flynn and Christine Coleman
For this month's club program, Local Group club members Christine Coleman and Dave Flynn will present how you can fully enjoy viewing the interesting constellations, planets, and deep-sky objects in the night skies of fall.
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
